Fashion Trends you'll see on Campus This Autumn
1. Casual Suiting
Blazers are everywhere this year. This summer, hundreds of trendy colours took over the classic blazer frame. This fall, I expect to see blazers as the must-have casual topper- altering the professional narrative it generally possesses. Below, I paired a simple long-line black blazer with a relaxed, oversized band tee and distressed, skinny, dark denim.
2. Printed Outerwear
Houndstooth and plaid are taking over. Statement coats bring interest to fall and winter outfits. In these cold Canadian conditions, you're basically never seen without a topper on, so these instantly add an interesting element to your bundled-up look.
3. Western Boots
Everyone had a version of the sock boot the past couple of years and only last year had we seen people replacing those tight, stretchy booties with a more polished leather shoe. This year, as we saw throughout festival season, is the year of the cowboy boot. Now I'm not saying a full on yee-haw moment, but more of a polished, mid-calf, heeled leather bootie will be the look of the season. These boots pair immaculately with jeans, specifically ones with a cropped and/or wider bottom for the boot to slightly tuck under, as well as with feminine dresses and skirts.
4. Flare Denim
Finally! The most universally flattering jeans are back in fashion! This denim visually lengthens your legs and makes your booty pop! They pair well with tight and cropped tops and shoes from booties, to sandals, to sneakers!
5. Snake, Cheetah, Zebra
Animal prints are everything. From subtle touches to fully-patterned outfits, you will find animal print on everything this year. My personal favourite is the snake print. It is so visually interesting and the vertical essence of the pattern often helps to lengthen the look of your body. I generally like sticking to the natural tones of these prints rather than their neon counterpart.
6. Statement Sleeves
Statement sleeves are the best way to elevate your look. Want to wear a sweater? Try one with balloon sleeves! Need a day-to-day blouse, try one with accordion sleeves! Playing with texture and shape on classic styles is such a fun way to up your style game.

7. Mesh Layering
Mesh is such a fun texture to play with because of it's versatility. It can be overtly sexy and also strikingly professional. For more casual looks, I pair a mesh long sleeve under a band tee, and for a more dressed up look, I'll pair a mesh button up over a tank with jeans. This look also is great with dresses and with bustiers.
8. Conservative Skirts
The midi skirt is everywhere. I swear every girl on Instagram has that cheetah midi! I can see girls transitioning this style to fall pairing their summer midis with tights, bulky cable-knit sweaters, and leather jackets through the fall.

9. Asymmetrical Necklines
The one shoulder trend is back. Anytime you walk into a college town bar you will be spotting girls left and right in one shoulder crop tops and bodysuits. The tube top has officially been replaced.
